Forget your prejudices. Guinea-pigs are not necessarily limited animals with a brain the size of a chick pea. Please meet Clever, the most intelligent guinea-pig in the world.

Synopsis

For CLEVER, the ideal living conditions for a guinea-pig come down to four criteria: a well-kept cage in an air-conditioned room; a well-oiled wheel to spin on endlessly; a clean dish, filled every twelve hours with graded Sunflower seeds – and a total and complete absence of future projects.

But like the majority of guinea-pig cages, CLEVER’s is located in the bedroom of a messy and negligent child. This obviously means there are any number of sources of discontent, and CLEVER has no choice but to come out of his cage to reestablish order.

Tasks that would be unthinkable for the majority of guinea-pigs (like rendering harmless a Japanese robot that refuses to stay in “sleep” mode, chasing

the cat – which slipped in through a cracked-open door – out of the house, or turning off a radio located on the highest shelf in the bedroom), are right up the alley of CLEVER, the most intelligent guinea-pig in the world.

All the more since CLEVER can depend upon the help of his faithful cage-mate, BRO, a guinea-pig with a less-developed intellect, but who’s ready to get mixed up in any of CLEVER’s schemes with no argument.

However, even with a very high IQ like CLEVER’s, it’s difficult to measure the consequences of one’s own experiments. Perhaps because it is, after all, only a guinea-pig’s IQ.
